With that in mind, we’re taking a look at the biggest tech buzzwords for 2017 and how each one might have an impact on recruitment.
Artificial Intelligence (AI)
When it comes to job hunting, the mere mention of AI is enough to strike fear into the heart of any candidate – especially since the governor of the Bank of England, Mark Carney, warned that robots look set to take 15 million of our jobs.
In truth however, the future of AI in 2017 looks less Skynet and more Rosey from the Jetsons…
… in that it’s much more likely to help than to hinder. From interviews led by chatbots to robotic recruitment processes and online simulations, AI looks set to revolutionise and optimise recruitment over the months to come.
Machine Learning
Much like AI, machine learning looks likely to enhance recruitment processes more than ever this year. Using machine learning to change the way we process applications eliminates human error and bias, encouraging fairness and diversity. In fact, research even shows that candidates chosen by an algorithm are more likely to stay in their position than those chosen by people. Scary, huh?
Mobile & Wearable
Mobile devices and wearable tech aren’t exactly new to the game but, as more and more people start to use them for work as well as leisure purposes, it’s vital for recruiters to build them into their business strategy in 2017.
With both employees and employers job hunting and hiring on-the-go, ensuring that both your recruitment site and hiring process are mobile-friendly is more important than ever.
Cyber Security
Thanks to several high-profile hacks in 2016, cyber security is very much at the forefront for anyone who works and hires online.
Not only will this affect the sort of people being recruited – and the sort of skills you need to stand a better chance of being recruited (people with cyber security skills are now the most in-demand of employees) – it also affects your recruitment process in terms of ensuring that applicants’ information is kept completely safe from breaches. After all, both employers and employees are less likely to use your services if they cannot trust your security.
It’ll be interesting to see how cyber security continues to develop and evolve to meet new threats as the Internet of Things (IoT) and cloud tech continue their rise to ubiquity.
