Associate Veterinarian

  • $110000 - $130000

We are searching for a new associate veterinarian for a fast-paced, AAHA accredited veterinary hospital located in Woodland Hills. This is a full-time opportunity to replace a DVM that is moving out of state.  The position opens January 2019.

The Hospital is a thriving facility with 4 DVMs, 4 (soon to be 5) RVTs, and an additional team of well-experienced support staff. The staff are dedicated, long term, and have grown in our family business environment.  The practice philosophy has three basic tenets: doing what’s best for the pet, solving problems, and creating the best experience possible for the client.   The operations emphasize efficiency to ensure that veterinarians have the time to spend with clients, diagnose conditions, and develop treatment plans. Everything else is handled by staff including all discussion of payments, all sampling, all diagnostic testing, and all treatments.  It is truly turnkey.  While everyone works hard, they still prioritize maintaining a collegial and fun environment.

Ideally, the schedule will be Monday, Tuesday, Friday, and Saturday. They are open 7 days/week. While this is negotiable, working at least one weekend day is required.

The position requires a veterinarian to possess high acumen plus self-confidence and provide high quality patient care, high level diagnostics, and excellent client communication to develop long term client relationships. Continuous personal growth and a willingness to engage in an environment of continuous learners is essential.  They will only consider candidates licensed to practice in California with a minimum of 2-years’ experience and or a qualified internship. An interest in ultrasound is preferred but not required as is a solid background in dermatology and internal medicine.

In support of their goal to provide the best possible care, they have digital radiology (all surveys are sent to board certified radiologist for review), ultrasound, video otoscopy, rhinoscopy, and a complete dental suite, including dental digital radiology. They do almost all soft tissue surgeries, as well as some orthopedics.

All veterinarians are paid salary based on projected yearly production rather than base + percentage to encourage camaraderie over competition. Projected annual salary is between $110-120K based on production for $550-$600K for the first year. Projection is based on track record, experience, discussion, and agreement.  Their team of veterinarians produce in that range annually, there is ample opportunity for growth. Pay is adjusted yearly based on 20% of the previous year’s production.  Benefits include 50% of health insurance, partial payment of dental insurance, and the availability of Aflac supplemental insurance.  They provide a corporate American Express Card to pay for fuel up to $200 per month, cell phone up to $100 per month, and ancillary business-related expenses such as uniforms (3 will be provided), licenses (California VMB and DEA), and dues (AAHA, AVMA, CVMA, SCVMA). We offer 3 weeks’ worth of time off per year.
