Castle Shannon Animal Hospital is a busy, AAHA-accredited, 24/7-emergency and general practice in Castle Shannon, Pennsylvania—located just south of Pittsburgh.

Castle Shannon Animal Hospital is seeking an experienced Emergency Lead Veterinarian for our 24-hour AAHA accredited Emergency and General Practice hospital in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.

The qualified candidate for ER Lead veterinarian role, in addition to seeing emergencies, will

• aim to increase the number of referring hospitals/cases to CSAH by relationship building with surrounding local GP hospitals
• assist in hiring, training and mentoring associate ER doctors and techs.
• make the ER doctor schedule and assist in hiring new ER doctors and technicians.
• promote our high quality patient care and advance the care to an even higher level by ensuring AAHA critical care protocols are followed.
• attend the CSAH doctor meetings to convey the concerns and needs of the ER department

In compensation for the increased responsibilities, the ER Lead Veterinarian will also receive an annual stipend over and above an attractive base salary with 25% production and NO negative accrual.  Additionally, the ER Lead Veterinarian will receive a monthly “perks” program (reimbursement for choice of: weekly meal subscription service,  pet yard clean up, house cleaning services, or dry cleaning)

The qualified candidate will also receive a $15,000 sign-on bonus and coverage of moving expenses.  All our ER doctors work set schedules, posted two months in advance.  Note that our ER Doctors generally work an average of 12 or 13 shifts per month, with multiple days off in a row – we do our best to accommodate vacation and scheduling requests whenever possible to improve work/life balance.

Our 12 doctor, state-of-the-art facility is equipped with endoscopy, digital radiography, ultrasound, and complete in-house laboratory available. Our highly skilled technicians have years of experience to improve your efficiency and quality of patient care.
