Job Description:

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Spay and Neuter Veterinarian to join our team in Brenham, TX. As a vital member of our clinic, you will play a crucial role in promoting responsible pet ownership and reducing pet overpopulation through the provision of high-quality spay and neuter services. Responsibilities:

  • Perform spay and neuter surgeries on cats and dogs with precision and care, adhering to established medical protocols and best practices.
  • Conduct thorough pre-operative evaluations to assess the health status of patients and ensure they are suitable candidates for surgery.
  • Administer anesthesia, monitor patients during surgery, and provide post-operative care to ensure optimal recovery.
  • Educate pet owners on the importance of spaying and neutering, as well as the benefits to their pets’ health and behavior.
  • Collaborate with veterinary technicians and support staff to maintain a safe and efficient surgical environment.
  • Maintain accurate medical records for all surgical procedures performed, including patient assessments, surgical notes, and post-operative instructions.
  • Participate in community outreach initiatives aimed at promoting spaying and neutering, such as educational seminars, mobile clinics, and partnerships with local animal welfare organizations.
  • Stay abreast of current developments in veterinary medicine related to spay and neuter procedures, anesthesia protocols, and surgical techniques.

Qualifications:

  • Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) or equivalent degree from an accredited veterinary school.
  • Valid license to practice veterinary medicine in the state of Texas, or the ability to obtain licensure upon hire.
  • Previous experience performing spay and neuter surgeries in a clinical setting is preferred, but new graduates with a strong interest in shelter medicine or community outreach are welcome to apply.
  • Proficiency in surgical techniques, anesthesia administration, and post-operative care for small animals.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to effectively educate pet owners and work collaboratively with a diverse team.
